Jared's Heart of Success is a non-profit organization dedicated to community violence intervention, youth empowerment, and trauma-informed support across Georgia and South Carolina. The organization partners with school districts, afterschool programs, and grassroots organizations to deliver impactful programming in mentoring, peer mediation, conflict resolution, mental wellness, and youth leadership development.
As their Brand Designer, I built a stronger digital presence alongside other UI/UX designers by reconstructing their brand identity, creating guidelines, and designing social media assets to improve readability and digital communication between the organization and stakeholders.

We needed to address the challenge of simplifying and streamlining the organization’s online presence.
Our goal was to create a more manageable system and straightforward brand kit that aligned with the organization’s mission to improve both internal workflows and external user experience.

The existing content was difficult for the founder to manage and lacked user-friendly design, making it hard for audiences to engage effectively.

We audited the current website and organized the content into 4 categories:
Mission: What is the goal? Why do we do what we do? What are we trying to communicate to our audience?
Audience: Who are we speaking to? Who are our main stakeholders?
Image: Who are we? How do we communicate? What do people feel when they see Jared's Heart of Success?
Programs: What do we do? How do we turn our mission into actions?
Through conversations with Sharmaine, we identified that the founder needed a simpler, more centralized system to manage updates independently. The audience needed clearer navigation and streamlined communication to understand how to get involved.

By modernizing typography, simplifying shapes, and strengthening color use, the identity became easier to apply across platforms without losing its original spirit. The result was a refreshed brand that respected its roots while positioning the organization for greater visibility and impact.

Through this project, I deepened my understanding of how design choices shape clarity and impact. I learned the importance of information hierarchy—how organizing content in a clear structure helps audiences quickly understand and trust a brand.
I also explored the power of typography, seeing firsthand how the right type choices can improve readability and convey personality.
Finally, I gained experience with auditing, evaluating existing materials to identify what should be preserved, what needed refinement, and what could be streamlined. These lessons reinforced the value of balancing respect for an organization’s history with thoughtful updates that strengthen its future presence.
